Family Activities
are just what the name indicates, a chance for Catholic families to get together, share fellowship, and support one another.
Every Fifth Sunday of the Month
the Council gathers for Mass, rotated between the three parishes we serve. Six families gathered in July, 2007, at Christ the King. The last fifth Sunday Mass was September 30, at All Souls.
|
The Memorials Committee
responds in the short and long term to the families of
members who die.
The Council attends the vigil for the deceased member, send a condolence card from the Council and initiates a card from the State Deputy, arranges for five Masses to be said for the deceased member, and organizes an annual Memorial Mass in November for members who have passed away in the intervening period. This year's Memorial Mass was held, as usual, during the regular November meeting time, on Tuesday, November 13, at 7:30 pm, at All Souls, in cooperation with the All Souls St. Ann Sodality.

The annual Family Potluck Picnic
is held every year during Knights of Columbus Family Week. Family Week itself is held to commemorate the birth and death of Fr. McGivney, founder of the Knights, on August 12 and 14, respectively. This year's picnic is August 10, 2008, at the Council Hall. At last year's event, a total of 40 - 50 people, enjoyed a dinner of pork steaks, burgers, brats, and an array of sides provided by members and their wives. A Council horseshoe tournament will as usual be contested in preparation for the state tournament.

is comprised of wives and daughters of Knights, and have their own program and officers. Liaison is provided to the Ladies Auxillary to coordinate activities with the Council. Behind every man is a good woman, and the Knights are no exception.

In addition to Council events, the following program is supported by the State Council:
Knights of Columbus Day at the Ballpark.
Knights from Missouri and Illinois get group tickets to Busch Stadium to see the St. Louis Cardinals. A portion of the proceeds supports the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Health Center. The 2008 event will be held on Sunday, August 24. Tickets are $32, with $4 per ticket supporting the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center. Anyone interested in 2008 tickets should contact the Grand Knight for more information.
