At the April regular meeting, the family of Free Throw Chairman Scott Wolosyk was elected Family of the Month. Also, the Council received thank you notes from Allison Rohman and Rachel Lee for our donations to them for their trip to the Washington DC March for Life. Significant renovation is occurring at the hall: a new smoke eater system was installed in the bar area, A general cleanup of the building was done, and an office area was set up.
On March 15, the Holy Father, Benedict XVI, approved a declaration recognizing the heroic virtue of Fr. Michael J. McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. Henceforth, Fr. McGivney will be known as Venerable Fr. McGivney. To join the Fr. McGivney Guild, go to Chancellor Dick Riley, Community Director Jim Keithly, and Jerry Wolosyk on making their Fourth Degree. The next Texas Hold-'Em Tournament will be April 11; future tournaments are planned quarterly and a trophy bracelet will be awarded to the winners. $100 each was donated to the Vitae Society and Birthright from Roses for Life funds. The Council is selling Baseball Mania tickets, please contact the hall if interested.
At the February regular meeting, the Council welcomed transfers from Joe Clarkson and Joe Glass. Welcome to these new members. The bar will now be open for business on Wednesdays from 4 pm - 11 pm in conjuction with our weekly poker league. Poker playing is not required; everyone is welcome. The date for the annual golf tournament was set for July 12.
The annual Super Bowl party was held on Sunday, February 3. The event earned $760 for the Council. The recording secretary sent Culpepper's and Frank & Helen's on order of the Council.
The Council has a number of Car Badges with the 3rd Degree Logo. They are 2½" in diameter, aluminum with a poly clear color, and double faced tape on back. $3. The perfect gift for the Knight in your life. Only nine are remaining! For more information, contact Treasurer Phil Oberkirsch.
