Youth Activities
are frequent oppotunities to guide members' children and the youth of the community.

The Council hosts a Youth Mixer
fundraiser
for children in the fifth through eighth grade every third Saturday from 7 - 10 pm. The committee organizes all aspects of the mixer. Soda and snacks are available and music is provided, all under the watchful gaze of Council chaperones and parents.

The Knights of Columbus, each year, sponsor an International Substance Abuse Poster Contest. The deadline for the 2009 contest is January 31. More information will be posted here as the deadline approaches.

For several years, the Council has held a spring
Golf Tournament
on the Normandie Golf Club course. A full day event beginning with a four man scramble and ending with a BBQ pork steak dinner, a portion of the funds raised support four $200

George Jacobs Scholarships
to Catholic High Schools for Catholic grammar school students in the Council's area.
In addition, the tournament supports Council's participation in the
RSVP
program, in which the Council selects a seminarian for financial and moral support. The 2008 tournament is scheduled for July 12 at the Normandie Golf Course. Please contact the Director if you are interested in playing or are a member volunteering to work.

Every year in January, the Council sponsors the
Free Throw Championship,
open to children 10 - 14 years of age on January 1 preceding the contest. The Contest is held in January each year, and winners progress to district, regional, and state contests. International champions are crowned on the basis of the state contest scores.

In addition to Council events, the following programs are supported by the State Council:
Scholarships.
The State Council offers eleven scholarships, along with scholarships offered by eight Supreme Council programs. This year,

daughter Amy was the recipient of a state scholarship. Congratulations, Tom and Amy!
Soccer Challenge.
In the fall, the Supreme Council sponsors a Soccer contest, very similar in organization to the Free Throw Contest. Other local Councils may be participating for interested children.
Essay Contest
Both the Missouri State Council and the Supreme Council have their own, separate Essay Contests.
The State Contest is for grades 5 - 12. The topic for grades 5 - 8 is "The Best Advice I Ever Received;" grades 9 - 12 is "The Key to Success in Life." Essays in this contest are due to the Chairman by January 31.
The Supreme Contest is for grades 8 and 12. The topic is "The Responsibility of a Catholic Citizen in a Free Society." The contest is open to all students, regardless of faith. Essays in this contest are due by March 31. Other local Councils may be participating.
